Inspiration for the band and video

Foals

This band were of huge inspiration to not only my band but the video as well. They are very much Indie rock genre and their laid back videos of simple locations and ideas made them very appealing.

Their song Olympic Airways had a very simplistic abstract video which I liked a lot. The rural location and random ideas complimented the music. This was a big part of my inspiration for the music video.

Interviewing the band

After asking numerous questions to the band it became clear that they were quite keen to do a recorded interview. So we filmed then in a relaxed setting, as it was not a formal interview, and asked them questions about their opinion on music and their own style and where their inspiration had come from.

This was what we produced.

Song choice

Steps faulter was my song choice for the band, after they played me a few songs they thought would be appropriate i decided on this song as it sounded upbeat yet meaningful at the same time. I thought it would really comply with my video idea well however when it came to recording the song we decided poetry would be a more appropriate song to illustrate our shots with and the band were keen on this song rather than steps falter.

Finding my band

Choosing my band didn't prove too difficult as a couple of my good friends currently have a band and were very willing to participate in my coursework task. The Band is called A Girl from the Castle and the genre of music is indie/post punk. The Band is currently situated in London and have been
together for a couple of years now, however recently losing one of the members (a bass guitarist) has meant the band are now renamed as A Girl From the Castle. The Band play in small venues such as clubs and bars, and have a very relaxed and simplistic look. Their inspiration comes from Bands such as Gang of Four, Bloc Party,Foals and The Horrors. The current members of the band include Roly Fischer-Vousden (guitarist, bass guitarist and vocalist), Josh Field (guitarist, bass guitarist and vocalist) and Mark (Drummer).
